Friday

Awoke at the ungodly hour of 4:30 a.m. On the road at 5 a.m. 123 miles later, boarded bus for rural county. Survived bumpy ride. Do they pave roads in rural areas?  Interviewed a trillion people. Reluctantly boarded bus. Barely survived ride. Reunited with car, never been so happy to see her. Pointed car homeward. Arrived home in record time. Crashed on the bed for 30 minutes. Met girls at the door. Supervised dinner. Suited up for Round 15. Hopped in car, steered toward university. Jockeyed for parking space. Walked the long mile. Stood in line for free tickets. Nearly took out six-foot tall man who tried to cut between girls and me while tens of thousands of people tried to get inside event. Cursed man under my breath. Made it inside. Paid $14 for $5 worth of food. Found seats. Saw indoor fireworks. Heard loud music. Checked tickets to make sure we were at gymnastics meet. Event finally began. Oohed. Ahed. Held breath. Danced to YMCA, the whole bit. Cheered the winning home team. Walked the long mile. Found the car in one piece, steered her home. Unloaded girls. Put them to bed. Crashed for good at 10:00 p.m.

  • Wow!! That is some Friday.

  • That’s dedication! What a long, long day.
