Good Discussion

I was over at Hyphen Magazine, where I came upon a post about discussing racism with children. I think it is the responsibility of every parent, regardless of race, to discuss racism with their children. That said, I know many parents are not comfortable discussing race. I tackle the issues as they arise. As Simone and Nadia mature, we will definitely talk about racism more. I want them to have the tools to deal with racism when it happens and not just be confused by it. The more we talk about it the more likely I will achieve that goal. So, what do you think? Chime in here or there.

Interesting. I think parents absolutely need to discuss racism with their kids. This would be true even of two white parents with white kids. Education/knowledge = power.
