What does ‘take it under advisement’ mean?
Simone, being an excellent journalist and asking me for clarification.
It’s a moldy old leaglism that unfortunately has survived to modern times. It means essentially: “I’ll take what you have said and ponder it for a few days before issuing my decision.” It is said by a judge to lawyers in his courtroom after they have completed their oral argument. Or by parents who are deciding whether to grant or deny a request by a kid.
